Stop Crashing is all about:

Cornering

Braking

Active Body Position and Timing

Looking Ahead

Singletrack

Rocks

Trackstands

Manuals

Wheelies

Rear Wheel Lifts

Fed up of going over the bars or freezing up when the descents get rocky? Not sure if you’re using the brakes too much or at the wrong time?

Stop Crashing is for the mountain biker who wants to get the essentials of riding right. Confidence can be built or restored by mastering some of the basics that might have been missing from your riding. Balance, steering and good active body position on the bike will bring more flow to your riding and will lay the foundations for smoother and faster riding which is more fun. Winner!

We’ll spend time on the basics like trackstands, manuals, wheelies and rear wheel lifts and we’ll see how to apply these skills and make them into an everyday part of your riding technique by riding on the trails. It’s not just about traffic lights posing you know. The skills you will learn will help you to stop crashing!

This course will help if you are fairly new to mountain biking or if you have been riding for years and want to have a refresher of the basics. Bad habits are spotted and alternatives put into practice. We also have a look at bike set up and can make equipment recommendations. If you feel like you’re stuck and need that little extra progression to help you take it up to ‘another level’ then this course will suit you.

Building mountain bike skills means building confidence so Great Rock Skills sessions are relaxed, with the chance to go at your own pace and with plenty of time to practice and ride. Run by skills coach, mountain bike guide and Singletrack Mountain Bike Magazine regular Ed Oxley, groups will have a maximum of six participants with plenty of time for individual attention.

“Many thanks for last Saturday. Taught me a lot. The real benefit to me was that I knew I had the ability to ride stuff like the staircase, but I just didn’t have the knowledge. You’ve now given me the knowledge. Now all I have to do is master those damned manuals!!! It’s surprising how much difference the proper technique makes to a ride, thanks for showing us that.” Frank

i learnt more in ten minutes with ed than i had in the last 20 years. im riding much more smoothly and with more confidence than ever before. by the end of the day i was riding things i had bottled earlier , and riding them well. cant recommend ed enough. as a teacher puts his lessons across in a way thats easy to understand and offers advice and encouragement all the while. ive just booked for the black magic and flow courses too so that should say it all really. cheers fella ;-)

Simply the best £60 I ever spent. Ed quickly gets down to riding technique and within minutes I was riding better than I had ever had. By the end of the day I was a better rider riding better lines whilst using less energy and carrying more speed. Great Day from the man Great Rock, Great stuff Ed
